Total Protection is more than the top shingles
To ensure the protection of your home, it’s important to go beyond just shingles. An integrated system of components and layers is required, designed to perform in three key areas effectively:
SEAL:
This component helps create a water-proof barrier, preventing any potential water from seeping into your home.
DEFEND:
By utilizing this layer, your home will be better equipped to withstand nature’s elements such as wind, rain, and extreme weather conditions.
BREATHE:
Achieving a balanced attic ventilation system is crucial for maintaining proper airflow within your home. This component allows for efficient ventilation, preventing issues like moisture buildup and promoting a healthier living environment. By incorporating these elements into your home’s structure, you can ensure comprehensive protection against various environmental factors while optimizing overall performance and longevity.
What you should know before letting anyone on your roof!
Roof Installation in 7 Steps
Roof Installation Step 1:
Tear Off and Decking
Before your roof installation begins, you can expect the delivery of your shingles and a dumpster either on the day before or the morning of the installation day. The first step in the process is removing the existing shingles and underlayment from your roof. Following that, our team will carefully inspect the decking to check for any signs of damage. If any water damage areas are found, they will be replaced before proceeding with the installation of your new Total Protection Roofing System®. This thorough process ensures a solid foundation for your new roof.
Roof Installation Step 2:
Seal
A well-sealed roof is crucial for protecting your home from the elements. Our two-part protection system creates a powerful water-resistant barrier that blocks moisture from reaching the roof deck. This helps prevent issues like rot, mold, and damage from ice dams or wind-driven rain.
The first layer is a self-adhering membrane that bonds directly to the roof deck. This forms an impenetrable seal against any water that tries to work its way up from below. The second layer is a flexible, rubberized coating that stretches and adapts to the roof’s movements, maintaining the seal over time.
Together, these two components create a comprehensive moisture barrier that safeguards your roof deck and the rest of your home. With this powerful protection in place, you can have peace of mind knowing your roof is secured against the damaging effects of water intrusion.
Ice & Water Barrier
The RhinoRoof® Granulated Self-adhered Underlayment is specifically created to serve as an additional layer of protection against water on steep slope roofs with a pitch of 2:12 or higher. It is compatible with various roofing materials including asphalt shingles, synthetic shingles, residential roofing, and cedar shakes.
ProArmor® Synthetic Underlayment
Owens Corning® ProArmor® Synthetic Roof Underlayment with Fusion Back Coating Technology™ offers a range of benefits. Firstly, it is known for its strength and durability, providing reliable protection for your roof. Unlike traditional 15 felt underlayment, ProArmor® repels water effectively. Additionally, it is lightweight and easy to install, saving you time and effort during the roofing process. Moreover, by using this underlayment, you can contribute to creating safe working conditions for your team.
Drip Edge
Drip edges are essential components of a roof, commonly made of metal and shaped like an “L.” Their primary purpose is to guide water away from the fascia and into the gutter system. By doing so, they help prevent water from seeping under the shingles, which can lead to potential damage. Installing drip edges is crucial for maintaining a well-protected and long-lasting roof.
Roof Installation Step 3:
Defend
Your roof is the first line of defense against nature. Quality asphalt shingles protect your home in three ways: First, the shingle’s durable outer layer creates a barrier against wind, rain, and harsh weather, preventing blow-offs and leaks. Second, strong adhesive seals the layers, forming a water-resistant shield that directs moisture away from the roof deck, preventing costly damage. Third, enhanced protection at vulnerable areas like eaves and peaks helps the roof withstand extreme weather, giving you long-term peace of mind.
By combining these three specialized layers of protection, quality asphalt shingles offer a comprehensive defense against nature’s elements. When it comes to safeguarding your home, a roof that’s built to last is an investment that’s truly priceless.
Starter Shingles
The Owens Corning® Starter Strip Shingle is a time-saving solution that eliminates the hassle of cutting shingles to create a starter row. By using these strips, you can achieve clean and precise lines for a seamless installation of your shingles. Say goodbye to the tedious task of measuring and cutting, and enjoy the benefits of efficient and professional-looking results.
Shingles
At our company, unless our customer requests otherwise, we consistently choose Owens Corning® TruDefinition® Duration® shingles. These shingles are designed to withstand wind speeds of up to 130 mph and are resistant to algae growth. Additionally, they come with a limited lifetime warranty. Considering their excellent features and reputation, many consider these shingles to be the top choice in the market.
Hip & Ridge Shingles
Owens Corning® ProEdge® FLEX® Hip & Ridge Shingles are specifically engineered to provide exceptional durability and resistance against strong winds, withstanding even severe storms reaching speeds of up to 130 MPH. These shingles are also color-matched to seamlessly blend with the Owens Corning® TruDefinition® Duration® FLEX® Shingles, ensuring a coordinated and visually appealing roof. Moreover, the ProEdge® FLEX® Hip & Ridge Shingles are an integral component of the Owens Corning® Total Protection Roofing System®, offering comprehensive protection for your roof.
Roof Installation Step 4:
Breathe
VentSure® Rigid Roll Ridge Vent
To maintain an efficient roofing system, it is important to keep the attic dry and cool. VentSure® Rigid Roll Ridge Vents are designed to act as a protective barrier against moisture infiltration and ensure proper exhaust ventilation. They not only prevent weather-related issues but also contribute to the overall longevity and performance of your roof.
Roof Installation Step 5:
Waste Material
After completing the installation, any waste material that is generated will be properly disposed of in the dumpster available on site.
Nails
Our dedicated on-site supervisor will conduct a thorough inspection of your home using a magnetic tool to ensure that any nails, screws, staples, or leftover materials are completely removed from your property. This meticulous process will help to maintain the cleanliness and safety of your surroundings.
