Commercial Roofing Systems

Commercial Roofing Systems

There are a wide variety roofing systems used on commercial buildings. In many cases multiple systems are used on the same building. Edge Roofing provides an all-in-one solution because we have specialists each roofing system from inspection to installation.

epdm

EPDM

single ply roofing

  • EPDM (ethylene propylene diene terpolymer), also often referred to as “rubber roofing” is in most applications, the least expensive single ply membrane to install.
  • Reliable and durable roofing membrane that has been in wide use since the 1960s.
  • The seams of EPDM must be sealed with liquid adhesives or specially formulated adhesive tape.
tpo

TPO

single ply roofing

  • An economical membrane material made with special polymers that give it great flexibility in a variety of weather conditions, including colder climates.
  • Easy to install and the most environmentally friendly of the single-ply membranes.
  • Seams are heat-welded so that, once installed, it becomes unified membrane.
pvc

PVC

single ply roofing

  • Less economical than TPO, PVC has a longer track record of performance.
  • Naturally fire-retardant and highly UV resistant.
  • Seams are heat-welded so that, once installed, it becomes unified membrane.
modbit

MODIFIED BITUMEN

single ply roofing

  • Modified Bitumen Roofs are economical, tough, built-up, layered roofs that use factory-made rolls of roofing material, layered on top of one another.
  • In a factory-controlled environment, rolls of fiberglass mat are impregnated with either plastic-modified or rubber-modified bitumen.
  • The uppermost layer is usually topped with mineral granules to provide protection from Sun and mechanical damage.
BUR

BUILT-UP

single ply roofing

  • Multiple layers of roofing materials provide redundant protection against mechanical damage and they can be easily patched and repaired.
  • Built-up-roofs or BURs have been popular in the United States for over 100 years, and are still found on a large number of flat roofs today.
  • Built-up-roof systems are composed or “built up” using alternating layers of bitumen (asphalt, coal tar or synthetically modified cold-applied adhesives) and reinforcing felts (tar impregnated fabrics).
liquidapplied

LIQUID APPLIED ROOFING

single ply roofing

  • Liquid-applied roof coatings are waterproofing coatings used in re-roofing situations.
  • Can be applied, hot or cold, over the top of existing membranes.
  • The most common system is the hot-applied rubberized-asphalt applied over uncured neoprene, polyester fabric or fleece reinforcing.
metal

METAL ROOFING

single ply roofing

  • Hydrostatic Roof Systems – Roof panels are designed to operate in slopes less than 3:12.
  • Hydrokinetic Roof Systems are water-shedding panels and require a slope greater than 3:12 (25 percent).
  • Metal roofs are more efficient at shedding rainwate. It can also withstand impact from hailstones and airborne debris and is less likely to get punctured
townhouseroof

STEEP SLOPE (Shingle)

single ply roofing

  • The most popular and least expensive pitched roofing material for both commercial and residential roofing systems.
  • Fast and easy installation.
